At 60

For my brother Bryan

The only thing I thought, when I turned ten
was how long I have to wait, to party again?

The only thing I thought, when I turned twenty
how long I have to wait, to make the big money?

I didn’t give a hoot when I turned thirty.
Each morning in the mirror, I still looked purty.

But sixty sixty was a bitch.
Sixty, I’d lost track of this.
Sixty, getting old is filled with sorrow.
Sixty, will the sun come up tomorrow?

The only thing I thought, when I turned forty.
All the work before me, can I retire tomorrow?

The only thing I thought, when fifty was me.
Bald looks bad on other guys but not Eddie Lee

But sixty sixty was a bitch.
Sixty, I’d lost track of this.
Sixty, getting old is filled with sorrow.
Sixty, will the sun come up tomorrow?

So now at sixty I’ve crossed that yellow line.
At sixty, going downhill all the time.
Full speed ahead, nothing much to do
but check each day and
hope that shit runs through.

At sixty, now you want a happy ending.
At sixty, with cake & money just for spending.
But you’re sixty, the best is yet to come?
Cause at sixty you know you’re on the run.

Cause at sixty sixty was a bitch.
Sixty, I’d lost track of this.
Sixty, getting old is filled with sorrow.
Sixty, I know the sun comes up tomorrow.

The sun comes up tomorrow.
The sun comes up tomorrow.
The sun comes up tomorrow.
